Downtown Salzburg, Austria

The town and Salzach River...
The streets in town are quite narrow... most vehicular traffic needs to use the outskirts to get around. The parking was a nightmare as well... I ended up finding a spot on the east side of the river and walking to the old part of town.The Salzach River divides the old (west) side of town from the new. There are numurous foot bridges across the river.


Mozart...

If its not The Sound of Music, it must be Mozart. Born, raised, lived and died in Salzburg, there are numerous museums, monuments and houses dedicated to the life of Amadeus.

Here is the square where several scenes of the movie were filmed in town... Here is a pretty good look at the square where the Germans were marching towards the end of the movie, just before the music festival.

Here is a view of the same square, but a better view of the water fountain. This is where Julie Andrews was singing early in the film just prior to going to the Van Trapp mansion for the fist time...
