Taipei101, Taipei Taiwan

Currently the tallest building in the world, we took a little night visit here on my last trip to Taipei...

Shenzhen, China May '06

My second home of late, Shenzhen is located on the northwest boarder of the Hong Kong province, and about a 30 minute train ride to downtown Hong Kong. The city itself is very young both in age and in population... it is considered the Boston of China in terms of its attraction of 20somethings starting out their careers, and is also the fastest growing city in China. Many large Chinese corporations are setting up and expanding shop here, including Lenovo, Huawei & ZTE. Shenzhen is also a large manufacturing center because of its close proximity to the Hong Kong shipping lanes. If it says Made in China, chances are it was made in Shenzhen.

Daytime Views...
Here is a view out my hotel room window looking to the south. The Cannon building is the 'replica mall' where there are hundreds of shops selling copy watches, hand bags, etc. The far orange building is PRC customs/immigration as the hill in the background are the province of Hong Kong. The building to the right is the Shenzhen Railway Station. Note the queue of taxi cabs waiting to pick people up from the train station.

Here is what things looked like when Typhoon Chanchu passed through the area...

Here are a few views from Lenovo, which is where I spend my working days...

Some nighttime views...

All of these are from the 31st floor of the Shangri-la hotel looking west towards Shekou...

Fierek's Harkey-Davidson, Munich

Certainly in quite the out of the way location, zero parking, and practically empty of t-shirts. Not sure it was worth the effort to find, but there it is.
